Nixon Corridor Improvement Project Feedback
Welcome to the second A2 Open Topic for the Nixon Corridor Improvement Project.
During the Nixon Road Corridor Study completed in 2017, the community expressed concern about the need to improve safety, provide non-motorized facility improvements, and maintain efficient roadway operations (i.e. avoiding excessive user delays). Only one option– the roundabout corridor– addresses all of these primary concerns. In May 2017, the City Council directed the Administrator to have staff design the corridor improvements. In fall 2017, a consultant was selected to perform the engineering design on the project.
The project area begins north of the Huron Parkway roundabout and extends to the south side of the M-14 overpass; the recently constructed Dhu Varren roundabout is not included in the area. The project is in the design phase and has an anticipated design completion date in the summer of 2019. Construction will be considered through the City's Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) update to be prepared this fall. A targeted construction timeframe will be determined as part of the CIP process.
Hundreds of comments have been received through the A2 Open City Topic and public meetings, as well as email, mail and phone conversations. The corridor concept has been updated and we are seeking feedback on the changes. The project is segmented into four areas to enable individuals to provide detailed responses to site-specific questions. The four areas are:
Project Area 1: Huron Parkway to Sandalwood Circle (North)
Project Area 2: Bluett Drive to Traver Boulevard
Project Area 3: Argonne Drive to Dhu Varren Road
Project Area 4: Dhu Varren Road to north of Barclay Way
You are invited to answer as many questions as you want. The survey will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. The survey will close on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 5 P.M.
