I would like to see Shirley Scott honored in another way. I feel SHARP explains what Tucson Water is doing for our future water supply. If the facility is going to be renamed, I would like to see it renamed for someone who is an more known for water specific innovations. I don't like facilities should be named after politicians because it is a very divided subject with strong opinions. I'd like to see it named for someone specific to the water industry. Thank you. I think this is a wonderful idea, and as a long-time citizen of Tucson, I would wholeheartedly support this. Shirley Scott devoted a lot of time and energy to serving our community, and I think this would be a wonderful gesture of gratitude for her distinguished service. Please do this. The SE Houghton Area Recharge Project should be renamed the Shirley C. Scott SE Houghton Area Recharge Project. While I think giving a 'human' name to public works is a thoughtful thing to do, and while I'm sure Ms. Scott doesn't have any issues in her past I am NOT for placing her name on this public facility. Given today's WOKE social pressure I would ask Tucson city officials to reconsider and place a very generic name instead. Unless, of course, with Ms. Scott's agreement you do a complete VETTing into her past. It was my pleasure to serve the City of Tucson by coordinating various Houghton Road corridor roadway designs, cost estimates, construction, and construction administration by working with Shirley Scott and her Ward 4 staff. Shirley always had great ideas, and I was privileged to see a few of them come to fruition. When I think about what the southeast part of the Tucson Valley is now and how Shirley Scott helped to it get there, I think of this Emily Dickenson poem: "We know not how high we are, 'til we are called to rise, Then, if we are true to form, our statures touch the skies." Thank you, Shirley Scott for a job well done - Few Tucsonans have done more to assure our City’s water supply than Shirley Scott. I think naming this facility for her is an excellent way to recognize and honor her hard work. Rick Kaneen
